The dishes, done before noon

I didn't plan to do the dishes today. I planned to do a lot of things, actually, and most of them are still sitting exactly where I left them yesterday.

But the dishes got done. Not because I felt capable, or because today turned out to be a good one. Just because the sink was full and my hands were already wet from something else, and it seemed easier to keep going than to stop.

It's such a small thing to mention. Nobody puts "washed a plate" on a list of accomplishments. But there's a version of today where the sink stays full until tomorrow, and today isn't that version, and I noticed the difference.

I'm not going to pretend this means the rest of the day will go the same way. It probably won't. But the counter is clear, and the light coming through the window is hitting it in a way that looks almost deliberate, and for right now, that's the whole update.
